The Project
From High Bills to Energy Independence
A four-bedroom detached home in North London was spending over £3,000 a year on electricity — and watching the price climb.
The challenge was a roof with awkward dormers and a family that used most of their power in the evenings. We designed a 16-panel array split across the two best-facing roof planes, paired with a 10kW battery so the daytime solar generation could be stored and used after dark.
The result is a system that covers the vast majority of the home's electricity use, with the battery charging on cheap off-peak rates in winter. The family now runs the house on sunshine for most of the year.
