Four Ways to Insulate Your Home

Every home is different. We'll survey yours and recommend the right insulation — or the best combination — to cut heat loss and slash your bills.

Loft Insulation

The most straightforward win. A thick blanket of mineral wool laid between and over the joists stops heat rising straight out through your roof. For most homes it's done in a day and delivers immediate savings — up to £250 a year on a typical semi.

External Wall Insulation (EWI)

Ideal for solid-wall properties that can't use cavity insulation. Rigid boards are fixed to the outside of your walls, then rendered or clad. It improves your home's appearance, adds weather protection and can save £300–£600 a year — without losing any internal floor space.

Internal Wall Insulation (IWI)

When external access is restricted — terraced homes, conservation areas, shared walls — insulated plasterboard is fixed to the inside face of external walls. It reduces heat loss through solid walls while keeping the outside of the building untouched.

Room-in-Roof (RIRI)

Converting a loft into living space? Insulating the roof slope and party walls of a room-in-roof is essential. We line the entire space with high-performance insulation, turning a draughty attic into a warm, usable room that stays comfortable through every season.

Insulation FAQs

Common Questions, Honest Answers

It depends on your property, but loft insulation alone can save up to £250 a year on a typical semi-detached house. Solid wall insulation (EWI or IWI) can save £300–£600 a year. We'll give you a realistic estimate during your free survey.
External wall insulation sometimes requires planning permission, especially on terraced homes, listed buildings or conservation areas. We'll check this for you during the survey and handle any paperwork needed.
Modern insulation materials are designed to last 40+ years with no maintenance. Loft insulation doesn't degrade over time — once it's in, it works silently in the background for decades.
Absolutely. Solid-wall homes (pre-1920s builds) can't use cavity insulation, but they're perfect candidates for external wall insulation (EWI) or internal wall insulation (IWI). We'll survey your property and recommend the best option.
